Exclusive filament for custom-made insoles

FootPrint3D's R&D department is continuously testing materials (TPU, TPC, TPE, PP, PLA, PETG) for suitability in foot and shoe care use. For custom-made insoles we recommend the use of TPU. TPU stands for Thermoplastic Polyurethane and is the ideal material for making custom-made insoles. This material belongs to the family of thermoplastic elastomers that soften when heated and harden when cooled down. Flexible and durable, it ensures maximum comfort and support. It also offers many options with regard to freedom of shape and the setting of different hardnesses.

Is it possible to make custom-made insoles for an individual client?

Yes, our 3D printing technology makes it possible to create custom-made insoles for each individual client, providing better fit, comfort and support. Completely in line with the role as manufacturer of custom-made medical devices within the MDR.

Is 3D printing safe?

All our materials are compliant with MDR legislation and have been tested for toxicity and skin sensitization according to Normative references: ISO 10993-5 (2009), ISO 10993-1 (2021); ISO 10993-12 (2021).

How long does it take to produce 3D printed custom-made insoles?

Our 3D printing technology makes it possible to produce custom-made insoles in 60 minutes per sole. Printing a pair of insoles takes an average of 2 hours.

Can I make adjustments to already printed insoles?

The materials we supply are thermoplastically deformable. This means that the custom-made insoles can be adjusted under heat. It is of course also possible to add elements afterwards. Special glue must be used that has good adhesion to TPU.
